You Have Now Entered the Dopeness!

Hey Y’all Hey!

If you wake up everyday thinking “Fuck, a Black woman doesn’t run the world yet”- listen, I’m right there with you. Been there, thought that, should create a t-shirt. I’m sure you’re here because you agree with the fact that Black women be knowing or you’re curious to know what it is that Black women actually be knowing. More importantly, HOW we be knowing what we be knowing. And yes, I speak Ebonics so I know how to drop my g’s but honestly, Black women know so damn much, I had to keep that shit, hence knowing not knowin’.

One thing that is undeniable is that Black women snatched everyone’s lace fronts in the Year of Our Lord 2018 with our overwhelming representation in politics, entertainment and literature. Honestly, we’ve been knowing since the beginning of time. Of course I have to mention that our forever first lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama debuted her writing skills in Becoming which I must say is so damn inspiring.

With that inspiration, came this idea that turned into a blog. This is a space to acknowledge, celebrate and honor the magical ways of Black women. As Black women, we love, we nurture, we read, we cry, we cuss, we come together in unity and we twerk, duh! In this space, we are here to bow down to the contemporary women doing big things but also honor our Black foremothers who made our victories that much more possible.

We talking ‘bout Michelle Obama, Oprah, Ntozake Shange, Alice Walker, Audre Lorde, Issa Rae, Luvvie Ajayi, Yara Shahidi, Amanda Seales, Beyonce, Rihanna, Auntie Maxine Waters and all of the other women that make you throw your wig from all that dopeness. We’re definitely not talking about Omarosa, Stacey Dash and sorry Rachel Dolezal, you don’t count either despite the fact that your braiding game is tight AF.

But we not just out here honoring famous Black women. Oh no, I’d get an ass whooping if I neglect to mention our everyday, fabulous mommas, aunties, grandmamas, sistas, girlfriends and any Black woman who be out here knowing things.

And if that ain’t dope enough, you’ll be hearing about the dope books Black women be reading and writing, events and places that Black women be going to and the everyday thoughts that Black women be thinking so you’re in the know.

And if you don’t know, now you be knowing.
